ELIXIR’S Rudder Pin Fix
By Joran Gendell

1984 MK-II Yawl

Here are the "before" and "after" pictures of the bottom pin on ELIXIR's rudder. I did the standard repair with a 5/8" bolt tapped into the rudder stock and a new bushing in the shoe. By fabricating a drilling jig, I was able to do the repair without pulling the rudder.

(Ed. Note: We had the same problem years ago with both our 1964 Alberg 30 and with our 1975 Alberg 37 MK-II Yawl SHEARWATER.  We used the same ‘fix’ as Joran, with the addition of a silicon bronze ‘thrust’ washer between the rudder and the rudder shoe.  Tom Assenmacher)
